Pueblo Village

We have been working on our Pueblo village. The Pueblo nations were found in the Southwest. This nation farmed and later raised sheep. Corn was an important crop. Their clothes were made from cotton. The Pueblos are still known for their turquoise jewelry and beautiful clay pots.

Notice the mesas (flat topped hills) in the background. The doors were on top of the pueblos and the ladders were pulled up if there was any danger.

Ducks

Have you heard that Mrs. Gammage brought two of her ducks to live on the pond behind KRCS? The children have really enjoyed watching them. We are having a Lower School naming contest.

Class Rules

I decided to simplify our rules this year and to use the following statement:  We can do anything as long as we are learning, safe, and kind. We discussed which actions would be unsafe, unkind, or prevent us from learning. I will refer to this statement often and it will be the lens by which the children and I determine how we behave in our classroom.
