Backpacks of Love

The children are excited about the opportunity to serve children in need through Backpacks of Love.  Cherie Perkins spoke to our students about how some children do not have enough to eat on the weekends. Their primary source for food is at school each day. Through this organization, children in need are given backpacks filled with food to take home with them on the weekends. Our children are learning compassion through this project. Backpacks and non-perishable food items are beginning to fill our room. Then the children will fill the backpacks and add some personal touches.

Field Day

Always an amazing day!

Wish I had a picture of the downpour that surprised us all. Our class huddled together under the first aid tent. The games went on when it was over, and the sun came out only a few minutes later. It was a day to remember!

Integrating Curriculum

I love integrating curriculum. On our morning flip charts, I always tie in whatever we are learning in social studies and science. During our states unit, I have put a daily fun fact about our country and an outline of a state. There is always someone who can identify each state.

Fractions

We have used this great tool to compare, add, subtract, and order fractions. In this picture, we are using the bars to find equivalent fractions. Click here to use interactive bars.

Class Poet

The children really enjoyed our poetry unit and I am finding poems in their journals. These poems are by Laken.
