Scientists in Mrs. Fox’s class used their knowledge of frogs to complete these masterpieces. They also wrote facts they learned about a frog’s habitat, diet, body parts, and life cycle.
Kindergarten biologists in Mrs. Hornsby’s class have been studying life cycles and metamorphosis in science. They learned about symmetry and measured their butterfly’s wing span with nonstandard units. I love to see science integrated with other disciplines!
Remember the sweet chocolate colored chicks we hatched last fall? Well, they are all grown up and having chicks of their own! The rooster in the picture is Mo. He had a yellow Mohawk when he was a chick.
These really are beautiful creations made out of trash! Third grade environmentalists demonstrated how you can reuse items instead of throwing them away. This video is only a sampling of the 63 projects all displayed in the Media center. Come by and see them!
I added another animal to our menagerie in the science lab. I hope the tadpoles sprout legs before school ends. Kindergarten biologists are studying metamorphosis.
Is it possible to cut a piece of paper in a way that you can step through it? My Pre-First scientists didn’t think there was a way until we completed this investigation.
I was checking on our invertebrates and saw something in the bottom of our snail habitat. To my amazement, our snails have laid eggs! Snails lay their eggs under the soil, so seeing a snail’s eggs is rare.
I helped chaperone the first fourth grade overnight. It was a trip filled with learning and fun! It is such a blessing to create memories with these children!
Kindergarten and Pre-First geologists had an in-house field trip last week. Their favorite activity was digging though a cup of the earth’s crust to find rocks and minerals. It was like a treasure hunt! Later, they sorted and identified the rocks and minerals they found.
