Classifying Vertebrates

I brought in a bag of Beanie Babies, and we classified them into invertebrates and the five vertebrate groups (mammals, reptiles, fish, birds, and amphibians).

What an amazing hands-on lesson that’s also over-the-top cute!!! Thanks for making it fun for them!!!

I began writing this blog when I was a second grade teacher to share ideas and classroom events with my students and their families. Several years later, I moved into the role of Lower School Science Coordinator and my days were filled with the sound of young scientists (in grades PK through fourth grade) laughing, designing, questioning, experimenting, playing, and exploring in our science lab and around the school campus. I have recently retired from full-time teaching, but will continue to share my love of learning and children with this community
