We created a picture within a picture during Fine Arts Week.  We are learning that (just like in writing) the more details that you add to your work, the more interesting your work becomes!

Hats Off to Reading

We celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday by wearing a fun hat.
Dr. Seuss wore a hat when he wrote for inspiration.


Fun Facts about Dr. Seuss:

  • Dr Seuss’ real name is Theodore Geisel.
  • His middle name was Seuss and he added the Dr. to his name.
  • Dr. Seuss lived from 1904-1991.
  • Before he was a children’s book author and illustrator, he was a cartoonist and created advertisements for Standard Oil.
  • Dr. Seuss’ first book was rejected 27 times before it was published.
  • He wrote more than 44 children’s books.

Georgia Face Jugs

During Fine Arts Week, Valerie McIntyre an artist from Out of the Box, visited our art class to teach us how to create North Georgia Face Jugs.  Then the children created the wonderful faces in the slideshow below.  The You Tube gives the background of these jugs.

These faces will be fired and then painted.
